Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Year 10 Literacy and Numeracy Assessments for NCEA Parent Information Evening Over the next few years a number of changes are taking place to our National Certificate of Educational Achievement, the national qualification that all of our senior students work towards in Years 10-13. To give our students the best chance at success, we will be offering all Year 10 students the Literacy and Numeracy assessments for Level 1 NCEA in 2023. These important assessments are part of the requirement for Level 1 and are required to ensure students can move on to Level 2 and 3 studies in subsequent years. To help you understand the Literacy and Numeracy requirements and to answer any questions you may have about NCEA, we will be hosting an information evening on Wednesday 3rd May at 6pm. At this evening you will hear from Mr Adamson, our Deputy Principal who oversees the NCEA programme at RVS and you will also have a chance to ask questions of some of our very successful Level 3 students, who can offer tips and advice to support your son or daughter to be successful. Mrs van der Vyver will be available to answer questions about Special Assessment Conditions for students who require them. Key Dates for Literacy and Numeracy 2023 The Ministry of Education has allocated two opportunities this year for RVS students. They are: Assessment Week 1 - Week 8 of Term 2 (May 12th-16th) Assessment Week 2 - Week 4 of Term 4 (October 30th - November 3rd) It is incredibly important that your son or daughter is present for these assessments, as there is no opportunity for a derived result. If they cannot sit for any reason, they simply will not be able to gain any result. This is a stipulation from the Ministry of Education and not from Richmond View School. In addition to talking about the Literacy and Numeracy requirements for NCEA, I will present an overview of how NCEA works and how you as a parent can best support your son or daughter. I would encourage every parent to attend this session as it will cover the details of how your son or daughter will be assessed in the senior school during their time here at RVS. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at mr.adamson@rvs.school.nz God Bless Julian Adamson The Board of Trustees are pleased to announce the introduction of a Community Support Fund here at Richmond View School. We recognise that at times our school families need financial assistance with their Attendance Dues and this Fund has been developed to assist where it can. Through this Fund people, or businesses, who wish to financially contribute to assist families can do so. 100% of donations received will be distributed to families who require assistance. Information on the Fund and Application Form are below, or speak to the School Office Staff.
Congratulations to the following students who were successful in auditioning for the combined colleges’ production School of Rock: Luca Handisides, Jessica Schmidt, James Dight, Alleisha Ham and Elizabeth McGruddy. A full cast list is below. The show will be held at the ASB Theatre in August.
This week we are halfway through the term, and this means that we are at our Year 9 and 10 PE changeover. From THIS THURSDAY, and for each Thursday for the remainder of the term, all Year 10 students are to meet at the stadium at 9.00am with their swimwear and towels, and a change of school uniform. All Year 9 students come to school by 8:40am in school uniform, with PE gear in their bags.
